This manual is for students taking Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in Horticulture Crop for the degree of Bachelor of Science (Hons.) Agrotechnology (Horticulture Technology) of Universiti Teknologi MARA Perlis Branch. The manual provides basic knowledge of insect pests and diseases in horticulture crops and its’ ecosystem. The laboratory and field manual emphasized identifying pests and diseases, techniques in trapping the insects and as well as field surveillance and forecasting of pests and diseases. The designed exercises are simple and easy to be implemented and are related to some of the concepts and terms described in lectures. Students will also be exposed to pesticide calibration application and safety procedures.
Instructor Biography
ABDUL RAZAK MOHD NORDIN was born in Batu Kurau, Perak and grew up in Alor Setar, Kedah He is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Plantation and Agrotechnology, UiTM Perlis. He received his early education at Sekolah Rendah Tunku Abdul Halim and later at Sultan Abdul Hamid College (SAHC) Alor Setar, Kedah. He completed his Bachelor of Agriculture Science (Entomology) from Universiti Pertanian Malaysia, Serdang in 1982. He obtained his Master in Agriculture Science (Entomology) in 1994 from the same university. He has already produced three publications in the field of Agronomy and Entomology. His contributions to the society and university was conferred with AMP, PMP, PJE by the Government of Perlis.
MOHAMMAD AZIZI ABDULLAH was born and grew up in Alor Setar, Kedah. He is currently a senior lecturer at Faculty of Plantation and Agrotechnology, UiTM Perlis. He received his early education at Alor Setar, Kedah. He completed his Bachelor of Science Plantation Management and Technology from UiTM Shah Alam, Malaysia. He graduated his Master of Science Entomology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He is also active in research and has produced papers, attended proceedings and joined innovations at university level.
NUR ILLANI ABDUL RAZAK was born in Alor Setar. She had her primary education in Perlis and secondary education at Sekolah Menengah Sultanah Asma, Alor Setar, Kedah. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Landscape Architecture and Master in Science (Built Environment) from International Islamic University Malaysia. She is currently a lecturer at Faculty of Plantation and Agrotechnology, UiTM Perlis. She is active in research and has produced papers, attended proceedings and joined innovations at university level.
MOHD ASHRAF ZAINOL ABIDIN is a Lecturer at Faculty of Plantation and Agrotechnology, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Perlis. He was born and raised in Alor Setar He received his Bachelor in Engineering (Agricultural and Biosystem) and his Master of Science (Agricultural Mechanisation and Automation) from Universiti Putra Malaysia. His research focuses on the smart farming system and agricultural control environment.
